Tortuguero National Park

Tortuguero National Park

This is Aidan (writer), Wyatt, TASMAN, Leah, and Serena. Today, we woke up extra early and took a bus ride (about 3-4 hours), where Percy kept us entertained by teaching us about the local wild life and other fun facts about Tortuguero.  We then took a 1-2 hour boat ride through the rough waters of the Rio Suerte, where we saw even more wildlife, including an iguana, a sloth, and a few other animals amidst the awesome jungle filled with dinosaur sized plants and trees, completely cutting us off from the rest of the local population.  When we arrived at the hotel, which happened to be right along the river (extra credit to whoever booked this hotel), and across the river from the small town. After a few hours of accommodating ourselves to our rooms and enjoying the pool, we took the boat to the town for 2 hours, then returned for dinner. We also happened to run into another group of recent high school graduates from Seattle, and we happily conversed and shared stories with each other. We ended the night talking and sharing travel experiences while some of us dozed off to the peaceful sounds of the river on one side, and the ocean waves on the other. We all miss our family and friends and we look forward to the rest of the trip and sharing our experiences with you guys!
